Before Liverpool and Manchester City got paired in the Champions League, Pep Guardiola’s team were the bookies’ favorite to win the competition. That was until the Reds did the double over the Cityzens and walked them over on their way to the semi-finals.
It was a victory Liverpool fans won’t forget in a hurry. It was a defeat Manchester City fans will like to forget as quickly as possible. Every other Liverpool player stole the headlines. And rightfully so. They were head and neck better than their rivals.
While you await the semi-final match-ups, what if I told you that I can show you five things you missed during both games? You thought you saw it all? No you didn’t.
- The secret Brazilan fight
There was a secret fight between Bobby Firmino and Gabriel Jesus. Many didn’t realize this match had in place more than just the rivalry of both sides. With Russia 2018 just around the corner, there was a stake for Brazil’s leading man.
Thank God General Firmino didn’t do too badly. He showed up when it mattered the most. And I’m just another Liverpool man who’s loving this man the more. Leading from the front, he played a pivotal role in Klopp’s “gen gen” pressing, unlike Gabriel Jesus, who is just a poacher who lets his teammates do the job and then he finishes.
- The True Test of the Liverpool squad.
Even though the team did well, qualified and won the match, every Liverpool squad wouldn’t find the bench very impressive as there was no game changer. It was filled with people who just had bits to offer.
To go far in this journey, Liverpool must find a way to keep their first team players fit or they would have more than enough to deal with, going forward.
- Liverpool Fringe Players had the games of their life.
The fringe Players who were ready to stake a claim not just to be on the plane to the world cup but also to stake a claim for the coming season had the game of their lives.
- OX played like a horse
He helped Trent too many times, even though he was at some point stingy with the ball he was pivotal to the team winning, he did his defensive duties so well and was a thorn in the flesh.
- Milner Oh Milner
His Experience was pivotal, his leadership too helped the team.
