FPL: 9 Players You Should Consider Transferring to Your Team

This weekend will feature MatchDay 2, with mouth-watering clashes like Chelsea vs. Arsenal among the action to be enjoyed. Another thing to be enjoyed is the fun of getting maximum points for your Fantasy Premier League (FPL) team.

The first selection process was a really hectic one – it took me an hour to find the “perfect 15” to start my season with.

How about you?

The World Cup, among many other things, made player selection for my Fantasy Premier League team a dilemma.

It was a bit hard to tell who would start on the pitch and who would start from the bench. For names like Mohamed Salah, Saido Mane, Sergio Aguero, Wilfried Zaha and a few others, it was a no-brainer.

But what about Jamie Vardy, Solomon Rondon, and Eden Hazard? They all started from the bench, which must have affected those who selected them for their FPL team.

MatchDay 1 has given us a sneak peek into what the season holds, the kind of players to be courted and of course, the ones to totally avoid… at least until the end of the month of August (hi Harry!).

As we look ahead to MatchDay 2, two analysts – FJ and Abdulmajeed – share their thoughts on who they think FPL fans around the world should add to their squad this weekend. Of course I’ll also be adding my two cents to their opinions.

From FJ:

This one is quite tricky simply because players are still finding their feet. The calibre and quality of the opponent they’re to face also matters a lot. But your team will definitely find these three players useful this weekend:

  1. Harry Kane (£12.5m)

Ridiculous, eh? Kane has never scored in August, but I am backing him to lit FPL fires this weekend against Fulham. The 24-year old has an indomitable record against promoted sides at home. Add that Slavisa Jokanovic and Fulham are still finding their feet and it looks like the perfect stage to end that hoodoo.

  1. Sergio Aguero (£11m)

Watch El Kun’s goal rush begin this weekend after his wasteful opening game. The Argentine is always one of the quickest off the mark in the league and can earn you a handy amount of points against Huddersfield. I would even advice you captain him.

  1. Raul Jimenez (£5.5m)

The Mexican has a goal already and looked extremely lively against Wolves. He seemed already married to the Premier League. If you have a Fantasy Premier League team, grab your points off him while you still can.

Mohamed Salah: The Egyptian King (or FPL Myth?)

From Abdulmajeed,

1)Kun Aguero (£11m)

After getting the nod in their last 2 games ahead of Gabriel Jesus, the Argentine seems likely to get the nod again this weekend. He will be an overly willing recipient of those cutbacks from Mendy n co and we all know it’s a home game against Huddersfield.

2)Benjamin Mendy (£6.1m)

Again I think those cutbacks and drilling crosses will be giving some assist points. Plus his power in getting forward will most likely be too much for Huddersfield to handle.

3)Mohamed Salah (£13m)

The most captained player of Gameweek 1 got off to a nice start last week and could be doing the same this week. Crystal Palace might sit deep and we know this can be a problem at times for Klopp’s men. But hey, if anyone is likely to bring the magic this weekend, it’s arguably Mo.

Bonus: Kante (£5m)

Might be surprising but hear me, I think his play in and around the 18-yard area, especially in that first game, is good (somewhat like Lampard). It now seems like Sarri is bent on bringing out the attacking side of Kante we never saw before and not just cope with the destroyer we saw under Conte.

From Papi the Great,

  1. Bernardo Silva (£7.6m)

Whenever the Citizens play at the Etihad, there will most likely be a goal fest. Sane and Sterling should get some good points for FPL faithful this weekend. Another City player you should add to your squad is Bernardo Silva. Injury to Kevin de Bruyne has only increased the chances of the Portuguese getting more playing time and of course live up to Pep’s comments about him after the Community Shield.

  1. Saido Mane (£9.6m)

After getting two goals for himself – and earning FPL teams 16 points, the joint-highest of the opening MatchDay – in the opening game of the season, Saido Mane became the most transferred-in player of the Gameweek, with over 368, 698 FPL fans including him in their team. Who knows? He may just get another goal (or goals?) for himself this weekend.

  1. Alex McCarthy (£4.5m)

The Southampton goalie was the goalkeeper with the highest number of points from Gameweek 1. The 2.2% of the FPL fans worldwide who selected him in their team got at least 11 points off him – or more, depending on whether they made him captain or vice-captain. I expect him to continue from where he stopped this weekend. I expect you this great addition to your FPL team.

What do you think? Are they any cheap players out there you’ve noticed and you think will bring in the goods this weekend for FPL fans? Leave us your comments and share your thoughts with us.
